His derelictions include seduction, betrayals of sweethearts, family and friends, and Marriage for money. All this with no signs of remorse or redemption, since his life as a completely unprincipled rake is quite enjoyable...for him, at least. Then, World War II breaks out and he is given a chance to die a heroic death for flag and country. Maybe.

Stravinsky's masterwork The Rake's Progress, created for La Fenice in Venice in 1951, is based on a libretto by W. H. Auden and Chester Kallman, inspired by a series of 18th century prints by William Hogarth. This amazing production from La Monnaie De Munt jazzifies the setting by replacing Hogarth's sin city, London, with 1950s Las Vegas, turning it into a glittering, cinematic gallery of tableaux vivants inspired by the early days of television. Staged by one of the most visionary theatre directors of our age, the Québécois Robert Lepage, the neo-classical morality tale truly becomes a grand spectacle. Lepage's visual imagination works its magic superbly, while Kazushi Ono's energetic musical direction drives the sparkling ensemble to exhilarating heights. Recorded in High Definition and true surround sound.

ITCHY is a simple-minded but charismatic camel whose itchy hump is a constant distraction. As he absent-mindedly wanders through the desert, Itchy discovers a pile of rakes...the perfect solution to his perpetual itch! But can he wrap his tiny mind around this opportunity, or will he miss the scratch of a lifetime?

This lavish, cinematic realisation of Stravinsky's neo-classic masterpiece, performed in English, is filmed both in studio and on location. The imaginative richness in the music is complemented by costumes and sets which are, by turn, exquisitely garish and darkly grotesque to intoxicating effect.

The Rake's Progress is an English-language opera from 1951 in three acts and an epilogue by Igor Stravinsky. The libretto, written by W. H. Auden and Chester Kallman, is based loosely on the eight paintings and engravings A Rake's Progress (1733–1735) of William Hogarth, which Stravinsky had seen on 2 May 1947, in a Chicago exhibition. Filmed in Aix-en-Provence, 1992.

More a song than a video, an attempt to cast out the ever-present past that haunts me, haunts the UK, haunts vimeo. Sound mix by Steve Hellier. Respect to the Fugs and their 'Exorcising the Evil Spirits from the Pentagon'.

A film, which is also about the production of itself, in which a man buys a home for himself that comes with an ordinary looking rake.

Fehmarn is Germany's third-largest island after Rügen and Usedom and not only perfect for family holidays, but also the hotspot for windsurfers. And Fischland-Darß-Zingst was already a sought-after holiday destination for young and old in GDR times - anyone who could get hold of a holiday place there was lucky. Judith Rakers discovers both islands in her usual manner through the people she meets there.

Spiekeroog is also called the "green heart of the North Sea" because of its natural beauty. The East Frisian island in Lower Saxony's Wadden Sea may only be 18 square kilometres in size, but it offers everything you need: unspoiled nature, kilometres of beaches and the endless expanse of the sea. Hiddensee's diverse beauty with rugged cliffs and snow-white sandy beaches is presented over an area of just under 19 square kilometres. The mixture of charming landscape and almost meditative tranquillity has been attracting celebrities and artists here since the 1920s.

Judith Rakers' island stories this time take her to Helgoland, Germany's only high-sea island, and to the Dutch North Sea island of Ameland, also known as the "Wadden Diamond". On her Helgoland tour, the presenter meets Helgoland fan Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt and visits a lobster nursery. Ameland is one of the five inhabited West Frisian islands and is considered a popular travel and excursion destination. Judith Rakers meets singer Loona, who has her roots in the Netherlands, on Ameland.

Judith Raker's "island stories" take her from Sylt's dreamy sandy beaches and the best-known hot spot "Buhne 16" to the nudist campsite on Amrum. She explores the islands through locals and newcomers and through prominent island fans: among other things, she delves into the island's history with Sylt expert Sylke von Bremen and competes with Sylt's best-known restaurateur Jürgen Gosch in crab picking. On Amrum she meets the actor Heinrich Schafmeister, who used to spend his holidays here as a child.
