An experimental short exploring the absences and buried histories that follow the act of leaving home, filtered through the many routes that leaving home takes for a "Canadien" daughter of Yugoslav immigrants: cultural displacement, assimilation, mother/daughter histories, sexuality and memory. Childhood and recent Super 8 footage is intercut to create a repository for family portraits, cultural memories of the balkans, immigration history, and personal reflection.

In the northeast corner of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a ‘red zone’ remains, designated as such since the second war of the Congo, (1998–2002), where no foreigners have entered since 1999. This world, Bouvier had the usage, seem to have disappeared under the veil of time. Disappointed the director leaves the main road traced by the famous Topolino and continues on the small path with the nomads. In creating his own route, Gael Metroz reveals the writer's philosophy of travel.

Anche il giovane Pierre Tairraz, che ha completato la sua formazione a Parigi, presso la scuola di rue de Vaugirard (promozione cinematografica nel 1953), ha partecipato a queste riprese aeree molto tecniche come assistente del padre Georges Tairraz II e cameraman.

Every performance tells a story. The characters belonging to the world of fiction become credible reality for the spectator thanks to the actor's technique. In Traces in the Snow the technique itself becomes the protagonist. The actor carries on a dialogue with the secrets, which precede and follow the building of a character and the creation of a performance – and its process, she exposes these secrets. The tension, which characterises every drama, is also present in this performance/work demonstration, due to the confrontation between the actor’s two forms of behaviour: daily and scenic.

A descendant of the largest slave-trading family in U.S. history, filmmaker Katrina Browne explores the contemporary legacy of slavery by traveling with fellow descendents from Rhode Island to Ghana and Cuba, retracing the Triangle Trade route. Along the way, Browne and her companions meet with similarly interested travelers and discover the considerable importance slavery once had for Northern commerce.

Inspired by the twenty-fifth anniversary of 'Bull Durham,' a team of artists converged on the Durham Bulls' stadium to document the legendary minor league team's 2013 season. 'Leaving Traces,' a feature documentary, follows the artists - including renowned photographers Alec Soth, Hiroshi Watanabe, Hank Willis Thomas, Kate Joyce, Frank Hunter, and Alex Harris, and writer Adam Sobsey - as they confront the challenges of finding something new in a baseball park. While techniques and output vary widely, this diverse group is united by baseball's (and photography's) unique experience with time. The slow, repetitive movements often hide the roiling drama beneath. By interweaving stories about process and craft, 'Leaving Traces' evokes baseball's atmosphere and captures the struggle to make the unseen visible.

The film presents urban space in Hong Kong as a vivid showcase of the hidden logics of globalization, capitalism and historical changes of today’s world cities. The film contains three chapters that is parallel to but interwoven with each other: global, local and border space. The film examines a series of urban landscapes in Hong Kong to illustrate the tension among their visual existence, function and ownership, and how the city’s public space has been constructed, used, owned and interpreted.

The career of Norman McLaren is well documented; less so that of his collaborator, the textiles artist, sculptress and active member of the Glasgow Kino Film Group, Helen Biggar. Traces Left explores the part Biggar played in the making of Hell Unltd, plus her contributions to the vibrant Glaswegian art and political scene of the 30s and 40s. Don’t miss this rare screening.
