More interested in automobiling than in anything else, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold are inclined to be neglectful of their little daughter, Dora, and are almost entirely unmindful of her grandfather, James Arnold, a one-armed G. A. R. veteran living with them. Dora makes up as well as she can to her grandfather for his loneliness and the two spend the greater part of their time together. On Decoration Day, Dora's parents want her to go with them to see the parade, but as they do not wish to take her granddad with them, she refuses to go and stays at home with him. After a while she coaxes the old gentleman with her into a field of daisies, where .she wreathes a crown of flowers and places it on his head. Seated thus in state, he is found by a delegation of citizens, who, having learned that he is a war veteran, bring a message that the town desires to honor him.

"Radioactive Veteran" is a documentary short about Marine Corps veteran Donald Guy and his widow Mary. When Donald was serving in the early 1950s, the military ordered him to the Nevada Test Site, where they had begun conducting nuclear testing. Along with thousands of other Marines and soldiers, Donald was assured he was safe as he gazed at the billowing mushroom cloud and marched through the desert toward the atomic blast. Within only a few years, however, Donald began experiencing serious medical issues resulting from radiation exposure and soon became disabled. For the rest of his life, he fought for disability benefits with Veterans Affairs, but in 2009 he died before receiving his due compensation. Over the next seven years, his widow Mary continued his fight for justice, as documented in "Radioactive Veteran."

It depicts the hardships veterans, particularly older workers as well as some of the health and economic issues they endure. Shows a delegation of older workers, led by the WWF's Jim Healy and Tom Nelson boarding a bus in Sydney and travelling to Canberra, where they gather outside Parliament House. Climaxes with a mass meeting of waterside workers at Leichhardt Stadium and concludes with a group of elderly wharfies walking along the Sydney docks.
