Boli to dva odlišné svety, no láska je len jedna. Píše sa rok 1607 a pre prisťahovalcov do Ameriky sa začína nové obdobie. Obrovská krajina čaká iba na nich, aby využili svoju príležitosť. A tak sa pod vedením chamtivého guvernéra Ratcliffa začína honba za pokladmi. Medzitým v malebnej indiánskej osade premýšľa princezná Pocahontas nad svojou budúcnosťou. Jej manžela už jej vybral otec, ale Pocahontas je na pochybách. Naviac jej predtuchy iba potvrdia duchovia. Ratcliff a jeho muži putujú krajinou a pustošia všetko, čo im prichádza do cesty. Je iba otázkou času, kedy sa do ich rúk dostane aj Pocahontas. Lenže medzi dobyvateľmi je aj čestný fešák, námorný kapitán John Smith, ktorý nevie z Pocahontas spustiť oči. Ich vzájomné sympatie rastú zo dňa na deň, ale rovnako tak rastie aj napätie medzi britskými dobyvateľmi a indiánmi. John Smith upadne do zajatia.

Pocahontas, ktorá cestuje ako mierový veľvyslanec, sa v Londýne stále len čuduje zvláštnym zvykom Európanov. Snaží sa zapadnúť a spriatelí sa s okúzľujúcim anglickým diplomatom Johnom Rolfom a pani Jenkinsovou. Obaja sa snažia Pocahontas pripraviť na Lovecký bál. Jej úsilie však komplikuje guvernér Ratcliffe až do doby, keď sa na scéne objaví tajomný neznámy, abo Pocahontas pomohol. Teraz sa už len musí indiánska princezná rozhodnúť medzi svojou dávnou láskou alebo neznámou cestou do budúcnosti.
