R.I.P.

The last true Hollywood superstar of the 30s and 40s. The sad end to an era ... what a life she led. R.I.P.

I don't know why, and it's really weird, but when it recently was her 104th birthday, I somehow knew, with total certainty, that this would definitely be the year she'd die - and somehow felt it would likely be within a month or two after her birthday. Eerie that that's all exactly how things have wound up going!

Yes: Sad end to the most celebrated - arguably the greatest - era in Hollywood history - the heyday "Golden Age" that was the '30s, '40s, and '50s.

Yes, this is a very sad time, indeed.

Only recently have you posted Livvy's piloting her bicycle/cart around her friendly newfound neighborhood, indicating how nicely France has been agreeing with Miss de Havilland.

And now, just as the legendary Hugh Downs has finally makes it to 2020 (he's long ago met the challenge of 20/20), now Olivia finally joins her vast numbers of Classic Hollywood contemporaries in the starlight above.

Good work, Livvy! cherry_blossom

Now finally Olivia and her sister Joan can put all the years of bad blood behind them.

PS: Joan was always somewhat my favourite of the two, though I liked and appreciated, and was a fan of, each of them. Having said that, I've always considered Olivia easily the greater and the far more famous of the two sisters.

I was very saddened to hear of her passing. I heard of it the day it happened (or maybe the day after?) but only just found this discussion. The last surviving great Hollywood star.

Also, she was damed at age 101! A huge honor. R.I.P. Dame Olivia de Havilland. You will be missed.
