It's been like five years now since Selena's second album "Revival (2015)". Together with her first album "Stars Dance (2013)", all three of her solo albums have topped the Billboard 200. That is quite impressive.

With this album, she has moved even further away from her Disney' image.

This 'spreading her wings' started with "Revival":

And now, after several years of physical and emotional struggles, there is "Rare". Together with "Lose You to Love Me", it tells the story of a broken heart and rediscovering oneself.

Many of the other songs feel impersonal, as if the other songwriters, who worked with her, didn't have a clue about Selena's inner growth and the strenth she has gained in the past years.
