The Witcher Season 2 adds another witcher to its lineup and more casting news

While studios in the UK are now permitted to resume work on film and television productions abiding by social distancing guidelines, there is no news on when The Witcher will be back just yet. To ease the wait a bit we’d like to share a few interesting but minor casting additions that we’ve discovered recently, starting with the most intriguing one..

Actor and stunt performer Joel Adrian has been cast as a character named Hemrik. From what we were able to find out, Hemrik is a witcher from Kaer Morhen. This is an original character and doesn’t appear in the books, so we cannot say where or rather when will we see him.

Next, we’ve learned that Vernon Dobtcheff will appear in The Witcher’s second season as an Older Elven Man.

Actress Alina Ilin, a native Romanian speaker will also have a small part in the second season, playing an elf. 

Lesley Ewen will join the cast of The Witcher as a character called Meena Coppercloth. As to who this mysterious lady really is, our guess is as good as yours. Safe to say she’s probably not an elf, judging by the name.

Lastly, there is young actress Scarlett Maltman in an as yet unknown role.

Is not a bad idea to release other cuts and BTS footage of TW to entertain the fans. At this rate, we’ll be in the old folks home by the time NX releases S2. HC won’t have to wear a white wig because his hair will be white.

They shouldn’t compare RR with Kim K. RR and his wife also donated $1 mil to Feeding America/Canada. Kim and everybody donating after selling something may or may not donate anything. Nobody knows what their profit really is. You could include the donation in your profit calculation. If your normal profit is $1, you can make it $1,10 so you can donate the $0,10.

So, you get to sell your crap, keep your full $1 profit and you get to pretend to be a philanthropist by donating $0,10. People should donate the $0,10 directly to a charity and leave potential schemers with the crap that they’re trying to sell. We know a couple who are donating using this route and they were accused of fraud in the past.

U.K. Coronavirus Insurance Plan Includes Possible Multimillion-Dollar Fund Covering Production

Variety has confirmed that a U.K. taskforce on insurance protection has submitted a proposal to the government for a guarantee around coverage for suspension or abandonment costs relating to COVID-19. This could manifest in the form a government-backed fund that may amount to hundreds of millions of pounds, according to insurance insiders, and which could be relied upon in cases where a coronavirus outbreak halts production on feature films or TV series.

One senior insurance source tells Variety that the U.K. fund will need to be vastly larger than France’s €50 million ($54 million) indemnity fund, which goes into effect June 1, covering up to 20% of a film’s budget and operating on a case-by-case basis.

Much like other countries, U.K. insurers that typically underwrite common film and TV policies are refusing to write new plans or extend policies to cover claims related to COVID-19, meaning government involvement is necessary to restart production in any meaningful capacity.

The U.K.’s proposal comes just days after a U.S. bill was introduced, seeking a federal backstop for coronavirus insurance claims. The legislation sets out that the U.S. government would pick up the tab for 95% of coronavirus-related losses, up to $750 billion, while insurers would pay the remaining 5%.

The Batman among movies given go-ahead for restart of UK filming

The approval of the new guidelines paves the way for the UK’s film and high-end television production industry,

The guidelines, drawn up by the British Film Commission and the British Film Institute, include rules on physical distancing, safety training and temperature tests.

However, it will still be up to each individual production to decide how, and when, to restart filming. 

Other major productions in the UK include the live-action movie Little Mermaid, which Disney halted filming at Pinewood Studios, and Netflix’s big-budget series The Witcher.

“Many productions have to get up and running again in the next two months or they won’t get made this year as they rely on summer weather and conditions.”

The UK is one of the most important film and TV locations in the world with a record £3.6bn spent on making more than 300 movies and high-end TV productions last year. 

The streaming wars, led by Netflix, are proving to be the main driver of a new production boom. High-end TV production – shows costing more than £1m an episode to make – surged by 29% last year to £1.66bn.
