I’ve just heard the news that Robert Forster has passed away at 78. This is awfully sad, and unexpected — he remained a busy actor until the end and in fact is in the new Breaking Bad movie released on Netflix on the day of his passing.
Always a welcome face in any role. I always thought he should have won the Oscar for Jackie Brown, for perhaps the warmest and most likeable character in any Tarantino movie. I also love him in Mulholland Dr.

This is terrible news, but thanks for breaking it to us gently, R Murray.
R Forster is great in his TV roles even if you did not see any of those films.
Terrible year for losses like this.

I was very sad to hear this news. He has been a favorite actor of mine since my childhood, when I saw him as Captain Dan Holland in the 1979 film "The Black Hole". It was a very reflective, quiet, understated role in a very eerie, noir-ish film that unfortunately doesn't get enough recognition for the Sci-Fi jewel that it is (although I was around in 1979, I was very little, and didn't see it until a few years later, on TV).
Forster had a very long list of acting credits, and though I didn't see most of them, I enjoyed every role I saw him in, from "Supernova" (2000) to 2011's "The Descendants" to his television appearances in "Breaking Bad" and "Last Man Standing", among others.
I will greatly miss him.

Watched him in El Camino last night and we really admired his sad, smart presence. He was great. I liked his junk stuff too like Delta Force and Alligator. And The Black Hole. But I'm probably going to listen to the Delfonics this weekend and cry. Jackie Brown is the best and he should have gotten the oscar.
