He had a long, sometimes troubled life, but he seemed to turn things around & lived relatively a peaceful life for the last 20 years.
I wasn't a football fan when he was an active player so can't speak to that but one of his acting roles I do remember is in one of my fav movies, Byron Williams in 'Mars Attacks!'. Such a fun movie.
Brown often acted in film roles that defied simple racial categorization, eluding narrow stereotyping, such as in the Raquel Welch starrer 100 Rifles, or as part of Spike Lee's acting ensemble more recently. Also, when he played simpler characters such as in James Toback's mafioso film Fingers, he did it with cool style, so as to still disrupt stereotyping, in my opinion.

I'll miss him.
