I'm glad you mentioned this. relaxed

The Irish scenery was shot beautifully and at times you could even smell the grass. It is one of the five movies John Wayne starred in with Maureen O'Hara. She is not only a celebrated actress but also a wonderful singer. It's a pity she never got the opportunity to fully use this talent in the movies. In the "Quiet Man" she did sing a bit and it was heartwarming.

The movie got nominated for the Best Picture Award, but lost out to "The Greatest Show on Earth (1952)".
The 'Quiet Man' lost this fight, but he did win the greatest prize of all: Mary Kate's undying love. hearts

Yeah, they were so wonderful together. Fantastic story. Nothing could beat those two together in a movie. two_hearts

I also love Irish movies. There's just something about them.

With you on this. TQM was my Wayne favorite film. I generally don't care for his movies and prefer Westerns with Jimmy Stuart, Henry Fonda or Glenn Ford. But this was the perfect role for him and Maureen O'Hara was stunning beyond words.
