Ranking mainly by her performance and the the movie.

1 The Cake Eaters - good story, a bit dry perhaps but Kristen's performance was excellent; Adventureland - very good coming of age story

2 Speak; Panic Room - very young and did a great job for such a youngster

3 Clouds of Sils Maria - Good movie, great interaction between Kristen and Juliette Binoche

4 Cafe Society; What Just happened; Into the Wild got her good notice for a couple movies that came after, I think including the Twilight saga

5 The Runaways - music was very well done by the cast, Dakota and Kristen did a great job singing; On the Road; American Ultra - I liked AU

5 Welcome to the Rileys; Twilight 1 which I think was the best one

7 Yellow Handkerchief - good little Inide movie/story, small cast who nicely fit together

8 Twilight New Moon, Snow White and the Huntsman

9 Cold Creek Manor

10 Twilight Breaking Dawn 1 and 2 - I liked the Twilight series over all but the stories were weak. Kristen, Rob and others did well with the characters and story IMO. I feel Kristen did well with her character as written in Twilight and she was a big force in keeping the story as true to the books as possible and true to fans.

10/10 Adventureland, Clouds of Sils Maria

9/10 The Runaways, Still Alice, Cafe Society, Panic Room, Welcome to the Rileys, The Cake Eaters

8/10 Speak, Certain Women, Equals, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, Into the Wild, Camp X-Ray, On the Road, Anesthesia

7/10 The Yellow Handkerchief, Snow White and the Huntsman, The Safety of Objects, Breaking Dawn Part 1, Breaking Dawn Part 2, Fierce People, American Ultra, In the Land of Women, Undertow, Catch that Kid, Zathura, The Messengers,

6/10 Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Jumper, What Just Happened, Cold Creek Manor

  • This list and ranking is not written in stone and is subject to change. I thought I should also mention that I don't consider any of her performances bad--although some of the films she starred in had weak subject matter which may have made her performances appear to be worse than they really were.

She'll have many more movie roles to go yet, and it will also be interesting to see how her movie directing goes. I think it'll suit her as she has really liked all aspects of movie making since she was a kid. If she wasn't acting then she'd be working in another part of movie making.

@Ron2011

With five of her films being released in U.S. theaters in 2016, I thought she was going to take a breather this year from acting because of her directing career--yet, like you mentioned, as an actor, I believe she will have at least three films released in 2017, perhaps even more if JT Leroy gets produced this summer. So it looks like another good year if you're a fan of her acting.

I didn't realize that she has three films coming out in 2017. Yeah, she has been busy, good for her. Plus her directing work that she'll also be doing.

LL, I don't believe that Underwater will be released in 2017. Filming is supposed to begin sometime this month. Then I expect that there will be a lengthy post-production process when vast amounts of special effects will be done. Summer 2018 is when I would guess that the film will be released.

Now onto the subject of this thread. My top twenty one are ...
1) The Cake Eaters
2) Speak
3) The Yellow Handkerchief
4) Clouds of Sils Maria
5) Cafe Society
6) Still Alice
7) Adventureland
8) Welcome to the Rileys
9) Certain Women
10) Panic Room
11) The Safety of Objects
12) Cutlass (yeah, I know it's a short, but I do love it so)
13) The Runaways
14) Into the Wild
15) American Ultra
16) On the Road
17) Anesthesia
18) Camp X-Ray
19) Zathura
20) Snow White and The Huntsman
21) Undertow ("Can I carve my name in your face?")

Please note that I have yet to see Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk or Equals. And of course, Personal Shopper has yet to be released.

Oh yeah, I would be remiss if I did not mention how much I loved Kristen's performance in the music video of The Rolling Stones' "Ride 'Em On Down."

P.S. Thanks Ron, for your e-mail about this site.

Hello Carved, if you know of any others from the IMDB board let them know also. I still haven't seen Anesthesia and Certain Women. I did see Billy Lynn recently though. And as you say, Personal Shopper hasn't been released yet.

It would seem that Underwater will be a 2018 release as you say, since it's filming this year, supposed to start in this month of March. I wonder if we'll see any pics from the set.

@carvedkid

Yeah Carved, most likely Underwater will be released in 2018, perhaps in the summer. I guess I jumped the gun, hoping they would rush the production of this film and release it in December 2017--December, after all, boasts some of the highest opening weekend grosses of all time from any month, namely "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" which has grossed a whopping $248 million domestic/$529 million worldwide on opening weekend, the highest opening weekend gross of all time. But of course, it should also be stated that similar themed films in the disaster sub-genre such as "San Andreas", "Armageddon" and "The Abyss" were released in the summer.

The reason I initially thought "Underwater" had a shot of being released in '17 was because some of Kristen's other films such as "Still Alice" began its principal photography on March 3, 2014 and premiered at TIFF 6 months later on September 8, 2014. "Cafe Society" began its principal photography on August 17, 2015 and 9 months later it premiered at Cannes on May 11, 2016. "Snow White and the Huntsman" began its principal photography on September 2011 and 8 months later it premiered in London on May 14, 2012, while it's U.S. theatrical release was on June 1, 2012, just 9 months after principal photography of SWATH began. So it is theoretically possible that "Underwater" could be released in late December of this year, although it appears unlikely.

Thanks for the clarification, as I agree that I'm getting ahead of myself since understandably, I can't wait to see Kristen star in a big budget actioner--wishful thinking on my part. But then again, hopefully they won't rush this film and instead take as much time as they need to get everything right, paying attention to detail so to speak. And relatively speaking, if "Avatar" took a decade to make, why not take a couple of years to produce "Underwater"?

Kristen is going to be on the Stephen Colbert late show tonight, March 9.
