Biographie
Jaylah Ji'mya Hickmon (born August 14, 1998), known professionally as Doechii is an American rapper and singer. After releasing her debut EP, Oh the Places You'll Go (2020), she rose to prominence with the viral success of her song "Yucky Blucky Fruitcake" on TikTok in 2021. She signed with Top Dawg Entertainment and Capitol Records, through which she released her sophomore EP, She/Her/Black Bitch in 2022. The single "Persuasive" was released with a remix featuring SZA, and earned Doechii a spot on the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. In 2023, she released the single "What It Is (Block Boy)" (featuring Kodak Black), which marked her first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 60.
She has received nominations for an MTV Video Music Award, and two Soul Train Music Award. In 2023, she was awarded the Rising Star Award from Billboard Women in Music.
