Biography

Dr. Procter earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University of Ohio in 1994. He then studied at the University of Georgia where he earned degrees in Microbiology and Cellular Biology. He completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and trained in general surgery at the University of Kentucky and Greenville Health System in Greenville, SC. Dr. Procter began his surgical career in 2007 with a heavy emphasis on minimally invasive bariatric and general surgery. Having performed the first robotic-assisted cholecystectomy in the state in 2008, he later became one of the first bariatric surgeons to adopt the fully robotic approach to the sleeve gastrectomy, roux-en Y gastric bypass, and duodenal switch procedures. He has been performing bariatric surgery since 2007 and started Beltline Bariatric and Surgical Group in 2016. Additionally, Dr, Procter has a special interest in robotic-assisted repair of complex hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is a member of the American Hernia Society and has published book chapters in the areas of bariatric surgery and hernia.
