Such a versatile filmmaker! Immortalised - and deservingly so - for his Universal horror movies, but he also adeptly helmed the intense and very moving WW1 trenches drama Journey's End, the well-regarded musical Show Boat (which I have yet to see but hope to soon) and, my favourite, fabulous swashbuckler The Man in the Iron Mask.

The following six are the only Whale movies that I'm sure I've seen. (Near certainly additionally Journey's End and Show Boat, though long enough ago, regarding those two, to now no longer recall anything.) As listed is, I think, my preference order. If you've not seen Waterloo Bridge, consider it highly recommended. Besides it being excellent, it includes a very young Bette Davis.

I very much like the Vivien Leigh version of Waterloo Bridge so should certainly take a look at Whale's earlier film - thanks!
