I agree...but am not particularly excited about "removing" T3:RotM from the canon. I think that was a decent installment. Terminator Salvation? Yes, sure, put it in a bin along with Alien vs. Predator:Requiem and burn them both.
But, back to Linda Hamilton - she'd be a refreshing celebration of the female action lead, in the spirit of Sigourney Weaver and Angelina Jolie (yes, check out her work, she's covered it very well).
Thought Linda was great in first two Terminators. But in six days (9/26/17) she will be 61. A little to old for that part IMO.
ARNOLD WILL PLAY A TERMINATOR IN T6, THE VERY SAME T-800 FROM T2!
It appears Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be playing a human in T6, but a Terminator… the T-800 Model 101. And here’s the kicker: Arnold will seemingly be playing the Terminator from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the exact one lowered in the molten steel!
TODD: “(James Cameron) all but confirmed Arnold would be a Terminator. (About his old age) James Cameron said they would “embrace it” meaning the external flesh ages. And he seemed to allude it had aged 30 years as if he had survived T2, but clearly he died at the end. Not sure what to make of that.”
So James Cameron alluded that Arnold Schwarzenegger will play the same T800 Model 101 Terminator that was destroyed at the end of T2.. but this time it will have survived and aged living 30 years later with Sarah Connor in what Cameron called “a contemporary setting.”

As Alien franchise protagonist Sigourney Weaver somewhat recently pointed out in an interview, if Stallone can rock on into his middle age as an action hero, why can't girls do it, too?
SPOILER
The only problem would be, as far as I know, Sarah Connor's offscreen death mentioned in the T3 movie.
She had cancer. Even the tv show referenced it. But they could do is maybe have a time jump where they travel through time and being her to the future or if they go by the alternate ending of 2 were Sarah is an old woman.

I would imagine the script will be written in such away as to be appropriate for someone older.
However, how will they explain Arnold Schwarzenegger? I assume cyborgs don't age, and he looks like a lizard now. A really old lizard.

Sounds totally awesome to me. Linda gave the franchise much of its spirit in its early days, in my opinion. Almost gives me hope for it.
