Here's a new Variety article about where things now stand.
I have a feeling this all is more something Harry has decided on primarily (perhaps 80% or more) to please and appease Meghan rather than actually because he personally truly wants to.

Guess time will tell, but internet news sure makes a fuss over that Meghan.
Time also tells about Mrs. Wallis Simpson and that former Duke King who absented the royal throne.

That just goes to show how blind-sighted some of those royals can become with their dame hunting.

Okay, my dear friend genplant, I gather you and the others on this board will disagree, but here's my view on things as they currently stand:
First, I do very much agree that this probably has a lot more to do with Meghan's wishes than Harry's, but I do not view this as a bad thing--
How many women have "dropped everything" to follow their man?
I do not think Meghan went into the marriage with some nefarious plot to steal Harry away from his Royal title; rather, I think the media attention on her-- combined with the enabling negative attitude towards her of, apparently, a sizable chunk of the British public --was something she just couldn't handle, especially after her and Harry's child came along. So I think what Harry is doing for her is fantastically romantic.
Plus, I have a feeling that there is a part of Harry's psyche, deep down, that has never been comfortable with his status as a Royal. I remember vividly the heartbreaking footage of Princess Diana's funeral, where Harry was bawling his eyes out, while everyone else around him maintained the "stiff upper lip" (I do seem to remember-- to his brother's credit -- Prince William walking over to comfort him). I think his brother William will remain loyal to him, though I am not sure about the rest of the Royal Family.
Things are going to be tough for Meghan and Harry, but they have financial resources, they have many supporters in the U.S. (although, unfortunately, they seem to be running into some resistance from Canadians for their plan to have a home in Canada), I believe they truly love each other, and I think ultimately they're going to be okay.
On a lighter note, it does seem to me that the British Royal Family may try hard to institute a "No Yanks Allowed!" policy when it comes to Royal dating policy, as this is the second member of the Family to be "lost" to an American since that business in the 1930s:)
