Après une formation initiale en réflexologie plantaire, trois années d'étude à l’École d'art dramatique Jean-Périmony et une très courte carrière de comédien, Cyril Dion devient en 2003 coordinateur de projets pour la Fondation Hommes de Parole. Il participe à l'organisation du congrès israélo-palestinien de Caux en 2003 puis, en 2005 et 2006, des 1er et 2e Congrès mondiaux des imams et rabbins pour la paix à Bruxelles puis à Séville.

En 2007, il crée avec Pierre Rabhi et quelques amis le Mouvement Colibris qu’il dirige jusqu’en juillet 2013. Il en est encore porte-parole et membre du cercle de pilotage.

En 2010, il conseille et co-produit avec les Colibris le documentaire Solutions locales pour un désordre global de Coline Serreau.

En 2012 il cofonde le magazine Kaizen dont il est directeur de la rédaction de mars 2012 à avril 2014, et la collection « Domaine du Possible » aux éditions Actes Sud, qu'il dirige toujours avec Jean-Paul Capitani.

Depuis l'âge de 17 ans, il écrit de la poésie, démarche qui aboutit en 2014 à la publication du recueil Assis sur le fil aux éditions de la Table Ronde.

Il écrit et co-réalise avec Mélanie Laurent le film documentaire Demain, qui sort au cinéma le 2 décembre 2015 ainsi que deux livres éponymes parus aux éditions Actes Sud. Demain remporte plusieurs prix dont le César du meilleur film documentaire en 2016 et rencontre un large succès en salles avec plus d'un million cent mille entrées en France et une diffusion dans près de 30 pays. A la rentrée littéraire 2017 il publie son premier roman Imago, qui remporte le prix Méditerranée du premier roman.

En 2018 il réalise avec Laure Nouhalat Après Demain pour France 2, qui analyse l'impact du film Demain dans la société et par à la rencontre des initiatives qui en sont nées. La même année il publie "Petit Manuel de Résistance Contemporaine" qui explore la façon dont les récits façonnent nos sociétés et les stratégies pour faire face au changement climatique et à l'effondrement de la biodiversité. En 2019 il entame le tournage de son nouveau film Animal qui sortira début 2021.

After initial training in foot reflexology, three years of study at the Jean-Périmony School of Dramatic Art and a very short career as an actor, Cyril Dion became project coordinator for the Hommes de Parole Foundation in 2003. He participated in the organisation of the Israeli-Palestinian Congress in Caux in 2003 and then, in 2005 and 2006, of the 1st and 2nd World Congresses of Imams and Rabbis for Peace in Brussels and Seville.

In 2007, he founded the Colibris Movement with Pierre Rabhi and a few friends, which he led until July 2013. He is still its spokesperson and member of the steering committee.

In 2010, he advised and co-produced with the Colibris the documentary Local Solutions for a Global Disorder by Coline Serreau.

In 2012 he co-founded the magazine Kaizen, of which he was editorial director from March 2012 to April 2014, and the collection "Domaine du Possible" published by Actes Sud, which he still directs with Jean-Paul Capitani.

Since the age of 17, he has been writing poetry, a process that led in 2014 to the publication of the collection Assis sur le fil by Editions de la Table Ronde.

He wrote and co-directed with Mélanie Laurent the documentary film Demain, which was released in the cinema on 2 December 2015, as well as two eponymous books published by Actes Sud. Demain won several awards, including the César for best documentary film in 2016, and was a huge success in cinemas, with over one million one hundred thousand tickets sold in France and broadcast in nearly 30 countries. In 2017 he published his first novel Imago, which won the Mediterranean Prize for First Novel.

In 2018 he directed Après Demain with Laure Nouhalat for France 2, which analyses the impact of the film Demain on society and meets the initiatives that have emerged from it. The same year he published "Petit Manuel de Résistance Contemporaine", which explores how narratives shape our societies and strategies for dealing with climate change and the collapse of biodiversity. In 2019 he begins shooting his new film Animal which will be released in early 2021.
