I know it may seem like a weird comparison, but someone brought it up on Twitter and I wanted to hear you guys' thoughts. Who do you prefer, and who is more successful?
Mind you, Jay Z admittedly got shook when 50 came on the scene, 50's debut is damn near diamond (which is basically unheard of for rappers), sold over a million first week with his 2nd album, put his ENTIRE G-Unit squad on the map and made them successful as well. OVO is basically a flop in comparison.
50 Cent was the start of a cultural shift, with tons and tons of impact.
Also, 50's music demolishes Drake's fast food albums.

I like Drakes new album(well the first half) I really haven't listened to 50s music but I find him hilarious on twitter

50's first two albums are rap classics, you should def try to listen. He changed the game. Drake will never have an iconic album, even though "Take Care" was probably the closest he'll get.
I don't think Drake has even made a banger as great as "In Da Club" or "Candy Shop"

Drake's music from what I've heard is miles above the mumble crap that was 50 cent and G-Unit. Candy shop was a guilty pleasure song. Olivia is a trans icon.

If it’s a weird comparison, why even bother to entertain it? What they do is different, even 50 was mature enough to recognise that and give Drake his props.
Candy Shop hasn’t aged well for me, and Drake always has something on his albums for me to enjoy. I might have to give 50’s debut another listen before I can give a proper judgment, but i definitely think Drake is more my cup of tea since I’ve always been more fond of r&b.

I said seems like a weird comparison, I don't personally think it's that weird. They're both same genre and two of the biggest rappers of this century.

Rap is a complex genre though, and Drake is not trying to be like 50.

Okay, I guess a more fair question would be who you think is more successful?

In Da Club is more iconic than Drake’s entire career. I don’t care how much Spotify payola Drake pulls to get Top 10’s, he’ll never be a rap legend. His lack of any substance will bite him soon.

I was never a big 50 Cent fan (I did buy his album back in the day though lol), because I think he was kinda a one trick pony. It was mostly just about being shot nine times and being gangsta. That was fun the first time around, but he got stuck which is why he lost to Kanye in the end and his music career died. I mean, the way his last album bombed is just embarrassing
HOWEVER, while I love that recent MJ collab and found myself bopping to One Dance and Hold On We're Going Home, Drake's kinda boring, lacks substance, is too mosh-mushy for my taste and has waaaaaaay too many "friendzone" vibes about him
Fitty wins in my book too.

I am not a fan of Drake and I am not fan of 50 cent but come on people. 50 cent is perhaps one of the most overrated figures in hip hop history - a dude who was shot 9 times and used that as a blueprint for his hip hop career. At least Drake has maintained popularity that has lasted longer than what 4 years? 50 cent went from selling 8 million to barely a Platinum in few years and is considered by many a joke in the industry. His rap skills aren't anything to write home about either, the song he did with Lil Kim. She fucking buried him on that track. There is a reason why he's barely done any famous collaborations is because he can't spit for shit.
Now he is a twitter troll and according to at least 3 people that know him, a closet case.
