Nadia Mladjao (born 5 April 1979), better known by her stage name Imany, is a French pop-soul recording artist of Comorian descent. Her debut album, The Shape of a Broken Heart, which was released in 2011, reached platinum status in France, Greece and triple platinum in Poland.

She was born in Martigues near Marseille, in a family from the Comoros in 1979. Her stage name, Imany (Imani) means faith in Swahili (from Arabic ايمان - imaan). As a youth, she was an athlete, doing high jump.

She became a model for the Ford Models Europe. She went to the United States for seven years, before coming back to France, when she started her singing career.

In 2008, she began singing. She performed at the Beau Lounge, at the Réservoir, at the Bellevilloise, and at the China Club.

Imany’s first album, The Shape of a Broken Heart, which was named after a drawing she made with closed eyes, contains twelve songs written in English.

Imany produced the soundtrack for the 2014 film French Women by Audrey Dana.

In 2016 the Filatov & Karas remix of her song "Don't Be So Shy" became a Europe-wide hit, topping the charts in Austria, Germany, Poland and Russia.

Nadia Mladjao est née le 5 avril 1979 à Martigues au sein d'une famille de sept enfants d'origine comorienne, d'un père pompier dans l'armée de l'air française, alors affecté à la base aérienne d'Istres. Elle fait sa scolarité en internat.

Elle débute une formation sportive à l'INSEP et s'entraîne pour le saut en hauteur5. Durant des championnats UNSS (Union nationale du sport scolaire) elle est repérée par Thierry Blancon, lors de championnats UNSS benjamins. Elle arrive en finale des championnats de France jeunes.

Engagée à l'âge de 17 ans par une agence de mannequins, elle part pour New York deux ans plus tard, avec un contrat de trois mois pour Calvin Klein ; elle reste finalement sept ans aux États-Unis. C'est durant son séjour à New York qu'elle attrape « le virus de la musique » en écoutant Talkin' 'Bout a Revolution de Tracy Chapman, qui lui donne envie de tenter sa chance comme chanteuse. Elle commence à l'époque à prendre des cours de chant et à écrire des textes. Lassée de « faire le cintre », elle arrête sa carrière de mannequin en 2008. Après des rencontres infructueuses avec des producteurs aux États-Unis, rentre en France et débute en 2008 sur les scènes parisiennes
