An underrated aspect of New Girl's success & longevity was the emergence of Cece – the idea at first being that Jess, this awkward duckling (as if she’s not pretty, too – oh, but she wears glasses!) is best friends with a gorgeous model. The character could have been played as a vapid beauty, but with credit to the writers and Hannah Simone’s prowess, Cece became in essence the 5th roommate. I never got tired of her scenes.
