Biography

Phil Griffin graduated from Ballet Rambert in London as a dancer and choreographer. Quickly establishing himself as a commercially artistic creative director. In his tenure as stage director for BBC Phil; worked for artists as diverse as Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Cher & Nysnc.  

As head of creative for the marketing department of MCA in London Phil commissioned videos & photo shoots & Tv performances for both UK & International artists such as C&C Music Factory, Ocean Colour Scene, Black Grape, Mariah Carey, Destinys Child & Bobby Brown.

Extending his film work into photography, Phil has created visual campiagns that include Kings Of Leon, Naomi Cambell, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Paul McCartney, John Bon Jovi, Rhianna, Annie Lennox, Kevin Spacey Sigourney Weaver, Helen Mirren.

Phil continues with his stills and music video work, collaborating with Sir Paul McCartney in both media, and creating music videos with Prince, one which saw Prince and Phil hijacking Mathew Williamsons Spring Fashion week extravaganza. Continuing the collabaoration, Phil and Prince created a full length edited version of the record breaking concert series 21 Nights in London

Phil toured the world with Bon Jovi directing the paired documentary feature & Madison Square Garden Concert DVD When We Were Beautiful. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and showcased on Showtime Network. The companion Harper Collins book Bon Jovi: Conversations with Phil Griffin was the first music book to hit the NY Times top 20 best seller list.

Further documentary features followed. Britney: For the Record aired in over 35 countries around the world to an audience of 100 million. Boyzone: Life After Stephen charted the emotional and difficult months that followed the tragic passing of Stephen Gartely. More recently 10 million You Tube viewers tuned in to Phils 1 hour Amex Live Concert special – Jay Z at South By South West followed by a 20 min Rhianna: “Half Of Me” explored the delicate and inspiring realtionship the global superstar has with her Fans.

Phils work continues to embrace new ways of experiencing and expressing the ambitions of his collaborators. Whether Its working with Jamal Edwards & SBTV to promote Self Belief though Prince Charles & The Princes Trust , collaborating with Jon Bon Jov, Mary J Blige & Sir Paul McCartney on the Hurricane Sandy Relief campaign or with Macklemore & the USA Network for the 2014 commercial of Phils self penned “I Wont Stand For It..” campaign, story telling is at the heart of every project.

Ultimately It is vision of the artists, agencies and record lables that continue to inspire Phils creative thinking and the challenge of finding the truth in every story that focuses his vision..
