Discuss Julio Ramos

Item: Julio Ramos

Language: en

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: This report is for someone who has too much time on her or his hands - I can't solve this on my own and give up. Here's the problem:

At the moment, there are 2 different pages here on TMDb for 2 different men with the name "Julio Ramos", born on the island Puerto Rico:

  1. Julio Ramos a.k.a. Julio Ramos Velez -> stage/screen actor, born in 1965.
  2. Julio Voltio a.k.a. Julio "Voltio" Ramos -> (former ?) musician/singer turned occasional screen actor, born in 1977.

I assume that most of the credits here on TMDb are correct, but I also assume that some of them are wrong. One simple example: They are both credited for Narcos PR, but I guess only 1 of them was in it. And here's my problem: I can't find full lists, and most of the info about them that I can find is in Spanish, a language I don't understand.

And if you think of IMDb - nope, they have it even worse: They have at least 3 different pages for those 2 men:

  1. Julio Ramos (1) -> I assume that's the original entry for the musician;
  2. Julio Ramos Velez -> I assume that's the original entry for the actor;
  3. Julio Voltio -> that looks like a new duplicate for the musician;

And I know for a fact that they are wrong about the credit for acting in the show StartUp -> that's definitely Julio Ramos Velez, not the other one. But for all the other credits: I can't say.

For more information on the actor, there's a long article in Spanish from the year 2012 here:

https://prpop.org/biografias/julio-ramos/

And his facebook profile has a lot of photos -> but everything is in Spanish, and I can't figure out half what's written there.

Good luck! :-)

A few credits were easy to confirm: Broche de oro, Por feo, The Vessel, Luna Vieja, La espera desespera, El enviado

For more information on the actor, there's a long article in Spanish from the year 2012 here:

They mention a few credits: Cuentos de Abelardo, La guagua aérea, Que será, Revolución en el infierno, El clown, Contraseña

One simple example: They are both credited for Narcos PR, but I guess only 1 of them was in it.

Surprisingly, I think it might be right? Julio Voltio's names is on the soundtrack + there are pictures of Julio Ramos on the set of Narco PR e.g. one, two and some posts refer to his character as "El teniente".

I'll add to this post as I work my way though the credits sleeping :

Haha, I should've known that's something you're going to "enjoy"! joy_cat

What a coincidence - I think you're right! thumbsup_tone3

And did you see, on the left: Carlos Miranda! I had to laugh so hard just right now ... rofl

I think, so far, you're right on all accounts! smiley_cat

  • Galán: That's him, all right. His son is also credited on the poster.
  • Los unos y los otros: the guard around 6:00
  • Miente: 1:12 + facebook picture
  • Angeles Perdidos: No post or visual confirmation, but it is directed by Raúl Marchand, who was the editor of Miente + both movies were produced by Frances Lausell's Isla Films + she also produced Broche de oro.
  • ¡Qué Joyitas!: these pictures look like him: in character, theater

Still unconfirmed:

  • Calle Uno dir. Susana Matos Allongo: I couldn't find any traces of a short with that name online...
  • Marcelo: I can't find anything about the movie... but it most likely the right actor. The film is allegedly directed by Eduardo Ortíz who directed ¡Qué Joyitas!
  • Marta y Cristóbal
  • Aventura verde
  • Jugando al esconder: It makes a lot of sense, but I didn't find any real connection except that he recently (re)worked with Jorge Luis Ramos + some random TV appearance with the director.
  • Leyendas de Puerto Rico

And did you see, on the left: Carlos Miranda! I had to laugh so hard just right now ...

Aww, small world! heart_eyes_cat

Banana, you're crazy! In a good way - wait, is that possible? joy_cat Anyway, thanks for checking all those credits! kissing_cat

I agree with all the things you found - I think, in every case, that's him. I have 2 tiny thoughts to your unconfirmed list - they're not really that important:

  1. Somehow, I miss Leyendas de Puerto Rico in your research? Did you check it or am I just blind?

  2. About this one:

  • Marcelo: I can't find anything about the movie... but it most likely the right actor. The film is allegedly directed by Eduardo Ortíz who directed ¡Qué Joyitas!

I remember, back in October, I started to research the credits and gave up because almost everything is in Spanish. One of the credits I started with was this one, and I had this idea that the title and members of the crew might have changed during production? There's a movie with the title "Vico C: La Vida del Filósofo" - the entry here on TMDb is this one:

https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/407650-vico-c-la-vida-del-fil-sofo

The credits on the official facebook page are kind of similar (https://www.facebook.com/pg/VicoClavidadelfilosofo/about/?ref=page_internal) to the few TMDb credits of Marcelo (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/407652-marcelo/cast), and on the website of the production company, there's no movie with the name "Marcelo" at all (https://www.pinolywoodstudio.com/). However, this film is about or inspired by a musician with the stage name "Vico C" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vico_C), and he did perform songs with the other Julio "Voltio" Ramos in the past. Also, they're both credited for the music documentary La clave, so, I assumed a possible connection. But that's where I stopped and was stuck - because I don't understand the Spanish articles and informations to confirm any connection or show that those movies might be the same. And at the end, it might be just a coincidence again ... worried

Somehow, I miss Leyendas de Puerto Rico in your research? Did you check it or am I just blind?

I skipped over that one! I added it to my list of unconfirmed movies!

You made me googled both movie titles and jackpot! I think I finally found a proper trail: according to google translate, it was supposed to started filming last march, but it was pushed back (at least) a few months:

Mollusc revealed that there is also another film in his diary, which Marcelo has as his working title. "We still do not know if we're going to leave that name. Our goal is to start pre-production and shoot between August and September of this year, "said the interviewee. Mollusc reserved the details of the film's history. However, he mentioned that the production "is a drama, which will contain comedy segments".

I guess we'll know more as/if the movie production progresses. smile_cat

Okay.

That's a very good find. Maybe, due to the hurricanes, they had to postpone the movie/production even more? grey_question
