The adult status is determined by the credits on a person's profile. Per the guidelines, a person's profile is marked as adult when more than 10% of their credits are on films that are tagged "adult" -- and this is for everyone in the database, not just actors.

Hi Rebecca,
Thank you for responding. I understand now. There were some pink films of his and other people marked 'Adult' that I changed.
The difference with this gentleman is that he has some AV to his credit correctly marked as 'Adult'. So of course I left that status accordingly.
