It was the honour of my life to have you as my President. You and Michelle made me a better American.

You began a grand impossible journey with hope and charted a course of monumental world-saving change for 7+ billion people despite a dysfunctional Congress. You re-animated American democracy, civic participation, corporate responsibility, and international alliances the whole world over to harness the world's creativity, the world's diversity, manpower, technology, wealth, and the natural force of globalization to find solutions to a million problems. You governed with principles and class and dignity and civility and constitutional craftsmanship and deep love and even deeper "what more can I do" purpose. You fought for our health care, our housing, our schools, our jobs, our civil rights and civil liberties, our environment, our arts and our humanities, our indigenous Americans, our disenfranchised Americans, our undocumented Americans, our everything. You looked ahead and not behind, you broke through stalemates and you built bridges with the least likely of persons and countries. You never lost sight of the mission, you lived up to the values not only enshrined in our American history and constitution, but enshrined in the great spirit of American pioneers and explorers and inventors and artists who built this country. Thanks to you, the young people of today are more politically educated, more exposed to the world, more exposed to other cultures, more diverse, more environmentally conscious, more skeptical of conventional "wisdom", more politically and socially active, more heavily immersed in civic action, then a few generations ago. You carefully guided us through terrorist attacks, war, a great recession, profound economic and technological and cultural shifts. You are the greatest President of my lifetime. I cannot believe the staggering amount of contributions you piled up as President. I cannot wait to witness the next stage of your life as a regular citizen.
