As I said in the sentence you quoted. The Winter Soldier is a much less fantastical movie than many of the other MCU movies, and it's praiseworthy for that same reason. Things got increasingly explosion heavy and nonsensical as The Avengers portion of The MCU continued on

The Winter Soldier ending with multiple helicarriers falling out of the sky was pretty explosion heavy too.

We did, in that same movie, also get several lingering shots of a fresh-off-The Crush Alicia Silverstone's leather clad derriere. Dunno about everything, Glomp, but definitely quite a lot , it would seem. Just as tentpole and franchise films(i.e. The MCU) hijacking mainstream cinema has diminished our capacity to even imagine a Hollywood movie without people in capes or robotic suits fighting aliens, Woke Thought has led us to believe that we can re-engineer our species in such a way that the male isn't regularly hunger for T&A in his entertainment

Mecha do you have difficulties with processing the world around you? Moonfall, Dune, NTTD, Scream and Uncharted are not films with people in capes and robotic suits fighting aliens and they've been released or are to be released in cinemas.

Given the lackluster box office haul for movies like Eternals, Green Lantern, Shang Chi, Black Widow, that last Charlie's Angels flick, etc, it would seem that large portions of the viewing public are also tiring of cape movies and rehashes. Spiderman Far From Home did spectacularly, and I'm on record here at TMDB as both having enjoyed this one and saying that I believe it's worth of the financial success it's enjoyed

The variety is there but the need isn't.

Again, the diminishing returns on so many cape movies and tentpole flicks does suggest that there is an immense craving for different types of movies in our multiplexes

As bad as cape movies or tentpole movies sometimes do which I'm not denying but that is due to a global pandemic. Yes, there's a craving for safer Covid secure cinemas but that's nothing to do with different types of movies of which there are still plenty anyway. If it's diminishing as you say it is then why are you so scared? Let nature finish the job and end tentpole movies if you're so sure.
