Victor, a French chef in search of fame, tries to help a child, Lili-Beth, win a culinary competition, but to do so must contend with the hostility of an entire village towards his mother, Sonia, the intransigent local customs officer. In a remote village somewhere on the border between Quebec and the United States, Sonia initially prevents Victor, who has moved to the States, from entering the country. She soon regrets it when Lili-Beth decides to take part in a Petits Chefs competition, in which she seems to have little chance of winning. The intractable Sonia decides to try everything to get the unpleasant Victor to help her. This more-than-improbable encounter will bring a whole village together to get past the various and go taste the essentials.
