No sympathy for these two idiots.

You're referring to the leads or some of the supporting characters?

The leads.

I live near the mountains, with more hiking trails than you'll ever have time to hike. Every year, there are news reports that someone died, fell off the mountain. People take risks for thrills, adrenaline junkies, convinced the laws of physics don't apply to them, convinced their skills will always triumph, no matter how precarious a position they force themselves into, against all warnings.

Life is precious. The world is full of people clinging to it against all socio-economic odds. But these people, with the luxury of thinking things will always work out for them, take unnecessary risks, put themselves in harm's way and then, when things go sideways, we're supposed to cry for them? Feel sorry for them? Root for them?

There was a big sign that says "No Trespassing. Danger of Death." Do these idiots think the sign was put up as decoration? Or is it that the laws of neither the land (no trespassing) nor physics (danger of death) apply to them, because they're special?

Did they tell anyone where they were going? No, of course not. They didn't need any more safety precautions, because nothing will go wrong. How about a flashlight with an SOS setting on it? Nah, we'll be up and down in no time, things will go according to plan. Gloves to protect our hands from rusty metal? Did they even get a tetanus shot?

F'em.

dear lord amighty what a ridiculous plot line! I haven't seen this movie but based on its description I wonder, it must be a satire like Snakes on a Plane or Sharknado, making fun of the disaster genre, right? Tell me nobody wanted to make a serious movie about dumbasses who climb a 2000ft tower and get stuck 😂

It got me dizzy.

I've done a fair bit of hiking in the mountains - walking along a ledge that's less than 2 feet wide, looking down into a canyon that would be, essentially, a free fall of over 1000 feet, is nauseating to the point of not being fun anymore. Remembering that feeling alone would have had me say "no thanks, I'll sit in the truck and go for help when things go wrong."

That tower looked about as stable as a cardboard shack in a hurricane. They were climbing blissfully, paid no attention at all to the rust, the shaking and shimmering, the bolts coming loose...it was ridiculous.

I think we are all in agreement here. Finally got around to seeing this and my god, the stupidity. But it could have been good.

Firstly, it was too long. I think they could have trimmed a good 20-25 minutes and had the movie be barely 90 minutes with credits. Secondly, and granted I'm not a climber because I don't have a death wish, but why couldn't one of them have hooked their line around the pole and tied it around their waist with a little bit of give so that they could shimmy down the pole and get to part where you can climb down?

I've seen people climb trees this way. Granted they had a proper/dedicated setup and trees tend to be more grippy, but the principle is still the same. Instead of having blonde girl jump down and die she could have used the rope to shimmy down and probably would have made it. But these characters were pretty dumb so I can't be too surprised they didn't try it.

I don't get the argument about the leads being stupid - people are dumb in real life as well and they do stupid things (and ignore clear danger signs). The movie works as an entertaining light flick with 2 busty chicks. It could be more realistic in some aspects, but it's still a fun watch. I definitely think they should've skipped the last twist, it's a pretty worn one from other films about survival when you're starting to lose grasp of what's real.
