Probably, but then what would be the fun in that? No real peril & the movie wouldn't last very long.

bratface, i think the film would have made greater sense if they would have tried that technique to climb down, like the telephone pole climber.

It was genuine thought that each viewer thought. If it is life or death, it something that would be most plausible to the audience.

The film would have benefited that the attempt was made, over the drone concept.

We just returned from the cinema, my girlfriend thought it was a great film. some of the shots were brilliant imagery, especially the silhouette shot.

That's the first thing that also came to my mind when watching this. I assume you are talking about the same technique used by loggers (or whatever they are called). Truth be told if their idea of safety measures was what they showed in the movie they would've died a long time before they ever reached that tower. I liked that mountain climbing sequence for example : just jump i'll catch you! Not to mention that technique of tying a rope around your waists so you are connected. I mean I realize it can be a legit technique, but I assume it either requires more than two people or at least one of the people needs to be a lot stronger than than the other one to be able to pull the person up if need be. It seems like with the method shown in this movie if one fell it would only drag the other party along and they'd both go down like a bunch of lemmings.

I would also like to say that I'm not so sure about the scene where she catches her second wind by chomping on that delicious vulture. I'd assume that at that point the lack of water would've been a critical issue not the lack of nutritious and delicious vulture meat, but maybe she also drank its' blood like Dracula or something.

HAHA! Awesome response, but really, YES the logger technique...can that work? They had lots of rope for multiple wrappings? Is there a legit way to do that? They could also practice by climbing to bulb and lowering to where they where stuck.

You are forgetting the fact that loggers have the advantage of spikes attached to their boots/shoes, which would not work on a metal pole.

Yes I know, that is why I am wondering if there is a tying technique of some kind to compensate.

Hang on JonBron1864, you are completely right. We were sold a massive lie in the cinema.

In the film she did climb to the very top light completely unaided to charge the drone battery. She just wrapped her legs and arms round the pole, mounting her way upwards, whilst carrying that bag over her shoulder ! She even held herself to the top unaided to charge the battery, that could have take an hour of her energy too.

Both of the girls had harnesses and rope to rein in a descent. The very thing they do not want is spikes, going down bare foot works better on metal.

I fear they could remake this film with two Asian women doing that very descent. It unfortunately makes us white people look very daft.
