Wasn't expecting much with that generic 80s action movie name, but it turned out to be good. The first half was awesome, then it started to wane and got a bit silly near the end. But it was worth a watch. My criticisms:
1) There were some weird moments and weird dialogue that didn't make much sense to me. It was really childish and yet a movie about a mass murderer who shoots people in the face doesn't seem kid suitable?! The horse that wouldn't budge is one example, is this a thriller or Dumb & Dumber?! Then the thing with the moose, the thing with the shared bodily warmth, etc. etc. Just seemed out of place.
2) They scale a mountain and nearly die and then stumble across a huge road... wtf? Why not just drive there...
3) I get that it was all a rush but would an FBI agent really chase down a bad guy with no radio, and some forest ranger tagging along? And then all the cops go on one ship and he decides to go on the other one... Derpy derpity doo.
4) The bit at the end where the guy tries to take one last hostage and Poitier stands up and says no :((((( seemed so out of character and so stupid. It got him shot 3 times, but no problem, he can fight underwater and shoot underwater too. It seemed verging on realistic to this point. Is that really the best ending they could come up with?!
Other than that it was fun. Poitier was great.

I’ve always enjoyed this movie. It’s a real corker of an action film. Cast is top notch and even though it didn’t have a big 80 store I’ve always loved it. I suspected failed at the box office because it wasn’t a big-name actioner. But if you’d like these type of movies this one’s a hell of a good one

I wish there were more like it. I like it when they take themselves seriously and it is tense.
