어쌔신 토론

I think the concept of two assassins after one another is a great premise.

Stallone isn't a superhero in this, he's a jaded man going through a middle life crisis. That's a unique role for him to play.

Antonio is great as usual. His delivery of dialogue is always amazing.

The latino island where they end up (shot in Puerto Rico) is a nice backdrop for the finale.

There are funny side notes to this movie, like the fact that both Antonio and Stallone can touch type fast with only one hand. And unique elements, like an action movie where the guns have silencers.

Even though I agree with the critics that it's a little on the long side, I think it's a good mid 90s thriller.

I didn't hate it as much as the critics but I don't think too highly of it either. The first half or so was great & loved the early rivalry between Sly and Banderas, then became a bit dull when Julianne Moore gets involved and felt way too long toward the end. I do agree that the setting on the island worked well for the final showdown and Antonio pretty much owned every scene.

Stallone did a good enough job but I just didn't feel much for his dreary character here. However, he pulled it off splendidly in Cop Land a couple of years later.

Stallone is often very wooden but if you're going to hire someone to play wooden he's the guy. I read in a book on screenwriting that his character type (like rambo) is one where we don't need to see growth or change, he's just the foundation where the other characters grow and crash.
