I thought there will be at least last shot at his picture frame to indicate father died young, but no, you will not get any resolution from the movie what actually happened whether father was terminally ill, depressed, had accident or whatever. Heck for what's worth they could had horrible argument and they stopped talking to each other with father still alive in some place, the movie leaves all of this unanswered and it's only up to you and reading articles and reviews to figure out he was probably depressed and suicided, which should had made clear at least with some final note in end credits.
