I love this movie.... It's so good... Highly stylised, over the top and you can almost feel the sweat splash onto the screen... Visceral!
all of this and it gets the emotions right, the politics right, the scheming and the conflicted interests...
This is possibly the best sports movie ever, yet I dont hear people referencing it, talking about it, or emulating it... why?
Is it too masculine and stylised a movie for contemporary audiences? I can get why critics dont like it, as they probably have bad memories of sports in general and mostly underappreciate Oliver Stone's visual and aural mastery...
This movie should have won Oscars

I preferred Air Bud: Golden Receiver to this film.

Excuse me, but there's a large group of Rudy and Hoosiers fans outside your door with a bucket of hot tar and feathers. You might wanna answer that.

They don't seem the sporty types...
Haven't seen Rudy or Hoosiers... But seriously guys, don't you see the mastery of Any Given Sunday?

Not even the best football movie in my opinion but I enjoyed it. Stone definitely brings a certain flair into it and has one of my favorite shots where the stadium is spinning right after Foxx hurls on the field. That was brilliant.

Air Bud: Golden Receiver is the greatest football film of all time, hands down.
Or, should I say... paws down!?!

Interesting... Which ones did you think were better?

The Program (still the best one I've seen), North Dallas Forty, Rudy, and the original Longest Yard to name a few. I might even prefer Wildcats and Varsity Blues. If I had to make a top ten for football movies I'm sure AGS would still make the cut though.
