Who else thought this was the hardest scene to watch in the film with the hospital sequence? i first saw this on video at age 5 30 years ago and this scene made me turn away and become green as it was shocking stuff.

I found the whole hospital sequence to be bizarre, and yes, I agree it wasn't pleasant to watch.

Ugh I hate the scene where they stick that hideous needle in her neck and blood spurts out.

I've always hated people touching my neck so that may contribute to the uneasy feeling.

Nah, the hardst scene to watch is probably the infamous "cross masturbation" scene.

What makes The Exorcist so effective is how credible the world is, which gets visited by this possessing demon. Having Regan undergo psychological and icky medical procedures in Friedkin's typically realist style is disturbing to watch because that's exactly how we would go about treating the bizarre symptoms she exhibits.

As the various treatments fail, we accompany Regan's mother on her journey to find a faith-based cure. In the end, even these fail, and it's an act of pure personal sacrifice that finally saves Regan.

Its a very well rounded film and creepy. The spider walk seems so unnatural and creepy
