This was an espionage action film, but it was NOT MI. It didn't even come close to capturing the spirit of the series. You don't make a classic character like Jim Phelps the bad guy. It's like Marshall Matt Dillon robbing a bank. It doesn't happen.

Couldn't agree with you more. I was first in line to see this film at the movie theater when it opened, back in 1995. I had great expectations. That is the only Tom Cruise iteration of this series I ever watched. And the last. They got my money the first time. Never again!

Some clod in the audience actually started clapping at the end of the movie. By that time, I was so p***d off, I shouted, "What are you clapping at? " I could hear some laughing. At me or the clapper, I don't know but the clapping stopped.

So why am I just now posting this? I went to a theater today, and saw a movie. At the end, several in the audience started clapping, me among them. AQUAMAN! grinning Great flick, a must-see! I would post over on the Aquaman board, but it's been taken over by the Marvel vs. DC nerds. I didn't want to put up with the harrassment. lol

Mission Impossible is from 1996, not 1995.

And this was a very good movie.

The other posters say why they don't like the film. But you won't say why you do? Okay... I don't like it because Jim Phelps is the villain. Plus, I wanted to see if you were going to correct my (lack of) capitalization, punctuation, etc... 1996. lol

HaHaHaHa! Thanks klondike. Having written my original post on this thread over four years ago, I can't remember if "1995" was a typo or a brain-f**t. Yes, Skywalker is correct, this film was released in 1996. My mistake.

Yes, it's 1996!!! LMAO!

And the reason to hate Mission mpossible only because Jim Phelps is the villain is ridiculous.
