Top notch remake

This film is definitely in my top 10 favorites. It's intelligent, horrific, well acted and delivers an emotion punch that you don't often find in the horror genre. Vintage Cronenberg.
This film along with The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers are some of the best remakes you will ever find.

I've always said this is in the top tier as far as horror remakes go. Agreed with the others you mentioned and I think The Blob (1988) deserves credit also, might be the last truly decent one.
