How do we know the German title isn't "Zwei stahlharte Profis - Lethal Weapon"? The promotional material all appear to have both titles in that order

Ok, that is a possibillity. I could live with it ;-) It is still better than "Leathal Weapon - Zwei stahlharte Profis".

"Zwei stahlharte Profis - Lethal Weapon" would be iMHO acceptable, since "Leathal Weapon" is also prominent on the original German poster.
