Just re-watched and realized Ferris could have has his heart's desire (his own car) if he hadn't skipped school.
His mom says had she closed the Vermont deal, she was buying Ferris a car with her earnings from that sale.
The only reason she wasn't able to close the deal was she had to pick up Jeannie at the police station.
Jeannie was at the police station only because of (basically) trying to catch Ferris playing hooky.
QED?
I suppose it could be argued that "saving" Cameron was worth losing a car, but...nah...Ferris doesn't seem the type to look at it that way.

Agree, "saving Cameron" was not his purpose for ditching school...but the rich-kid "problem" of having to endure his entire high school career without a car is hardly lamentable to the rest of us.
Besides, hard to feel sorry for him when compared to Cameron, who had a car - a classic BMW 5 - along with strained parent relations.

If he hadn't skipped school, he would have never eaten pancreas.
