She is portrayed as a brave and strong-willed woman. First she duels with Zorro, putting up a good fight. Then she saves Montero from Don Diego, getting the latter arrested. After she realizes Don Diego is her real father, she helps him escape from prison.

Then things become confusing. Surprisingly, she saves Montero again from Don Diego, giving him the opportunity to then fatally wound Don Diego. Suddenly she acts like a damsel in distress and looks on helplessly, until Don Diego tells her to "get them out" . Once again she shows courage and saves the prisoners.
