I never thought they did until the last couple of times I watched it.

Same... The first time I watched it I thought not. But when you see they way they look at each other when he leaves at the end, I think so relaxed

What if she is pregnant?!😱😱😱 It worries me ...I don't think amish people use contraceptives.

She'd blame the pregnancy on Hochleitner... An old saying is the first child can come at any time, the second one takes nine months..

I think they did... as someone pointed out to me once, later when Rachel is serving the Amish men lemonade, being a good little woman, the first glass she pours is John's. At least, that's how I remember it... it's been such a long time since I've seen this film....

From what I recall, I definitely thought they did not. I also seem to recall Barry Norman saying on his film review tv programme that although he loved the film, he didn't like the fact that the relationship didn't develop.

You make it sound like Barry Norman co-wrote the film or something.

In those days in the UK, he was something like Roger Ebert became to the internet decades later. Whether or not anyone agreed with him, and like pretty-much everyone else on here I'm sure we make our own opinions about films we watch, his counted. And I remember thinking that part of what made the film unusual for me is that it didn't follow that track.

Oh, I gotcha. When "At the Movies" was on, I was really big on Siskel and Ebert. I guess that my home schooling -- oops, I meant schooling didn't inform me about this Barry Norman guy.

I really felt John and Rachel did "do it," but that the film just skirts the issue. That is possible, you know.

Well if different interpretations weren't possible discussion wouldn't exist, so of course.

I agree....
