Overview

לפני כשנתיים הילד ג'סי עזר ללווייתן ווילי לקפוץ אל עבר החופש. ג'סי נהנה מהחיים עם הוריו המאמצים, כשאחיו החורג אלביס מגיע בגלל מות אימם. במהלך טיול מחנאות ג'סי פוגש את ווילי בשנית, כמו גם את חברו האינדיאני רנדולף. אהבה עדינה מתפתחת בין ג'סי לבין נכדתו של רודולף, נדין. לפתע מכלית נפט שהתנפצה מסכנת את הלווייתנים, וחיי חיות ואנשים צריכים להינצל גם כשהנפט עולה בלהבות.
