Well, it should display as a 2008 release since we should go with first theatrical. I corrected the releases since not all of them were theatrical and added some extra premieres. The issue has been reported so you will have to wait until I get a response from the admin. Thanks.

Hi, I am in the process of setting up PLEX for a few days now, I was using Kodi for 3 years As I keep getting misses in release dates, should I continue reporting them one by one, or will themoviedb admins try a global fix.
PS: I was reporting the obvious dates that were off by 5 years or more, but I am getting countless (hundreds and hundreds) of "1 year off". So far, it seems to be the same issue (original release date pushed up to "newer")

Wait for a global fix, then see how it looks. As we will go with theatrical release dates there will be many releases that will be one year off. As long as the premiere date is added, though, you should be able to use that one to get it in line with IMDb if that is what you want.

Hi, the release date bug has apparently not been fixed yet (?) When I check my Plex movies list, I am getting an increasingly large number* of "unmatched", mostly wrong by a year. When I check the release on themoviedb.com, the movie was invariably recently updated, someone added a newer release and that changes the default release date.

The default release date used here on site is always first theatrical (2008 for this movie). Then it's up to everyone else to decide how to use the data available. I know for a fact that Letterboxd uses earliest release date. Since i'm not familiar with Plex I don't how this works, but my guess is you should ask someone there.
This is a 2006 release on Letterboxd so the data is good: http://letterboxd.com/film/all-the-boys-love-mandy-lane/

Can you please have a look at this one: Le pont du Nord (1981) was very recently updated and now appears as: Le pont du Nord (1982)

Hi docjl74,
Like Lineker said, it has always been our policy to use the first theatrical release (not the premiere) so Le pont du Nord looks correct.

Slightly embarrassing to say, but... the hundreds of unmatched movies I was experiencing were seemingly caused by malfunctioning Plex on my side. This is ongoing but I now know for sure it is not caused by faulty data from TheMovieDB.
I was worried (discouraged) I was going to be stuck spending all my free time fixing movies because their (main) dates kept on being changed over here.Talk about a losing battle.
Sorry to have been a pest
