I think the character of Liane in this movie does a pretty good demonstration!

Yeah she was a really irritating wife. Vernora did the nagging wife for Mann in Heat rather well, you could empathise with her, but here she's a full blown cow.

I just don't think it's helpful to start freaking out about the mortgage and bills right away. Yes, your husband is probably concerned about those things too. What good does it do to make him feel even worse?

He was LUCKY the tactless shrew walked out on him, shame about the kids though.

I dunno... What about her duty to her family?

I would freak out if I were a wife with a child than needed costly medical care and had a certain lifestyle... From her point of view he was being incredibly reckless for no real payoff or reason...

So what made him a hero is also what drove her away...

It was so good of Mann to have such a character in the movie, she added so much depth and was very good in this...

Shows how short-sighted she was - the world plummets into darkness when good men stand by and do nothing. Women who abandon brave, ethical men are complicit in the dark forces that threaten to destroy us. Shame on her.

yes, she was very supportive...

but TBH they mentioned he has alcohol problems and he seem pretty emotionally unstable, so I guess it is not entirely about money plus she left also because of the smear campaign and danger, although they shown that only later
