Al 6 jaar liggen objecten van de rondreizende tentoonstelling ‘De Krim - Goud en geheimen van de zwarte zee’ zonder eigendomschap in de kelders van het Allard Pierson museum in Amsterdam. De in maart 2014 geopende tentoonstelling werd al na een maand gesloten vanwege de annexatie van de Krim door Putin. Sindsdien zijn de objecten staatloos. Van beide kanten ontving het museum direct claims: zowel het Krim Museum als Kiev eisten de schatten op. Zo werden de archeologische vondsten uit de Krim onderdeel van een politiek getouwtrek, waarin Nederland de rol van onvrijwillige scheidsrechter opgelegd kreeg, én waar de emotionele waarde van de schatten in dit langlopende conflict misschien nog wel het aller zwaarst weegt. |

So now the question arises of who should the artworks be returned to? To the museums in Crimea who had been so kind as to loan them out? Or to Ukraine, perhaps, the country Crimea belonged to before the annexation? What should the museum’s director Wim Hupperetz do? |

2014년, 네델란드의 알라드 피어슨 발물관은 크림반도에서 발굴된 유물들을 전시한다. 하지만 그 사이, 러시아가 강제로 크림반도를 합병하면서 아무도 예상치 못한 문제가 발생한다. 전시가 끝난 유물들을 어디로 돌려주어야 할 것인가. 우크라이나, 아니면 러시아? 양국이 유물들을 소유권을 주장하고, 박물관 큐레이터들은 딜레마에 빠진다. 그리고 네델란드 법정에서는 갈 곳 잃은 유물들의 향방을 둘러싸고 재판이 열린다. |
