Discuti Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Whilst we are all cooped up - waiting to die or be allowed back out again - I thought it would be fun to compile a best of list for each major franchise / superhero film series (feel free to add anything I missed). One entry only per series. Here's mine:-

Indiana Jones:- The Last Crusade
Star Wars:- Star Wars
Rocky:- Rocky II
Superman:- Superman (78)
Batman:- Batman Returns
Spiderman:- Into the Spider-Verse
X-Men:- Days of Future Past
Star Trek:- Wrath of Khan
MCU:- Thor: Ragnarok
DCEU:- Man of Steel
Alien:- Alien
Fast & Furious:- Furious 7
Die Hard:- Die Hard 2
Terminator:- Terminator
Rambo:- First Blood Part 2: Rambo
James Bond:- On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Planet of the Apes:- Dawn of the POTA
The Godfather:- The Godfather Part II
Jurassic Park:- Jurassic Park

And if you had to choose your number one franchise, with all the others to be expunged from history and only one could survive?

For me:- Rocky!

I stopped reading and pmsl at last crusade!

Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark

Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back

Rocky: Rocky

Alien: Aliens

Rambo: Rambo (4) or Rambo: Last Blood (this was a tough one for me; both of the latest entries into the franchise were much grittier and dark in mood-- which I liked --compared to the first three)

Planet of the Apes: Planet of the Apes (1968)

James Bond: A View to a Kill (loved the Duran Duran song, Roger Moore was always my preferred Bond, and I love Christopher Walken)

The Godfather: The Godfather (and I liked all three, even the much-maligned third)

Batman: The Dark Knight

Favorite franchise: The Godfather

I totally agree with you, Midi-chlorian, on Wrath of Khan being the best Star Trek movie; in fact I just watched it again last night!

I'd say my list is closer to Northcoast's with the following exceptions:

  • Alien: Alien (1979)
  • Die Hard: Die Hard (1988)
  • James Bond: Goldfinger (1964)
  • Terminator: T2: Judgement Day (1991)

It seems to me that you missed a few major franchises that belong on a list like this. Northcoast caught The Godfather, and I agree with his choice.

  • Halloween: Halloween (1978)
  • Harry Potter: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
  • Jaws: Jaws (1975)
  • Jurassic Park: Jurassic Park (1993)
  • Lethal Weapon: Lethal Weapon (1987)
  • Lord of the Rings, The: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (1999)
  • Matrix, The: Matrix, The (1999)
  • Predator: Predator (1987)

Favorite Franchise: Well duh, Alien.

P.S.: Apologies, but I wouldn't put any F&F, Rambo, Toy Story, Despicable Me, Mission: Impossible, Pirates of the Caribbean, or superhero movies on my list.

Thanks guys - I did have Jurassic Park and The Godfather series in mind when I was typing up at one point but missed them - will add them on... Missed some horror ones as well. Haven't seen enough of HP to judge that one.

A Nightmare on Elm Street- The Dream Warriors. Nurse Marcie seals the deal

We're going through these just now for the first time in years. Got a new found appreciation for Part II - very amusing film!

Part 2, unfairly dismissed by many as the "gay" nightmare, is in actual fact a great movie!

Good additions, Gus. I'm just sad you didn't choose Superman III.

As much as I love Superman III you can't beat the original.
