Discuss Smile

That was fun to watch in a darkened room with good sound. Some people forget that you can't watch horror when you are constantly interrupted or checking your phone. Just turn off the light and immerse yourself, better with a bit of alcohol as well. Smile reminded me It Follows, which was very good horror, and this one is also executed very professionally and according to every rule of the genre. But it's the perfection of the genre concepts that is giving it the intensity. You know what to expect, you guess the twists, you know the characters, you see where the story will go. There is not a lot of originality here, besides choosing specifically the smiling for the signature of this evil entity. But it is still thrilling to watch this movie as it triggers all the right fears and scares. No one is trying to be very original here, it is not some rules breaking movie. Just a standard horror that will give you the creeps.

Yes I agree with you on all points - It Follows and The Ring sums it up.

What I also liked was that it had just the right amount of creepiness, gore and jump scares. Also Sosie Bacon was great as the lead.
