Just rewatching this film and never got this part - the goat was very clearly shown as being on the opposite side of bars from Richard Parker, yet we see it being dragged off as if it wasn't.
Never found out if this was just a bad mistake (which I can't really believe was the case) or if this was supposed to be some sort of early clue that we are watching someone's recollection of events rather than necessarily the actual events?

If you look at the size of the goat compared with the spaces between the bars and consider the strength of a tiger, it wouldn't surprise me if what they were trying to make the audience think is that Richard Parker dragged the goat through the bars.

(Spoilers) ahead...
Yeah... dragged it through the bars, or it is a surreal scene that is both in keeping with the magical realism of the movie and also which hints that the narrator may not be that reliable...
I liked it...

Yeah, that's were my thoughts on it are. Watched it a couple of times now, and whilst the tiger could easily of got an arm / paw through to swipe at the goat, there's surely no way he could have pulled the entire animal between the bars...
