Although it was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, and it has a very good cast, I found it outdated and rather slow moving. Marlene Dietrich was excellent, and the supporting cast was also good. But the script was nothing special, and it had a stagy quality to it, maybe because of the limitations of sound/recording at that time. There are a lot of claustrophobic scenes where everyone is crowded together, probably around the unseen mic.
