I can't quite place which movie, but am pretty sure I've seen it performed by Ukulele Ike (actual name Cliff Edwards) in a Pre-Code film. He introduced and popularized tons of songs in early sound films. And, incidentally, he was the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Pinocchio (1940), in which he sang the classic song "When You Wish Upon a Star". (I actually have a 1920's hit-songs CD that his performance of "Happy Days Are Here Again" is on.)

And fun title song. I've seen its first-ever filmed performances in 1929's The Hollywood Revue of 1929, in which it's performed twice.

Love the first scenes with Debbie Reynolds.
I'll never get tired of this movie

I enjoy the part where the Silent movie actress has the horrible sounding speaking voice for talkies movie-making.

Thinking of this movie and its title song reminds me of the song "Happy Days Are Here Again".

I just read it was in a 1930 movie Chasing Rainbows. There's are whole wiki page about it.
It's amazing how so many popular and well known songs date back so far. Who knew!

For sure. There were lots of great Depression era songs designed to cheer folks up.
Oh - that's right - Chasing Rainbows! Not any big deal as a movie, but does have that terrific song in it.
