No discussion about this movie?? I never thought I'd say this, but I really miss the IMDB forum.

It's aggressively gross. How about that?

The influx of users from imdb hasn't really helped the individual movie threads yet. People see them empty and assume there's no activity so they don't bother trying to jumpstart it. I mean, even your post is just about there being no posts yet. It'll take some time, I only made threads on a few movies myself and I got a risky download of the imdb forums just to have the movie threads. I gave no s----s about their main forum.

Cannibal Holocaust is one of the best too, though I could do without watching the turtle scene ever again.

At least one of the cannibalism scenes is very intense. I wouldn't even recommend this film to fans of "The Walking Dead," unless they were familiar with the subgenre (meaning they'd seen 2-3 films from it).

I basically wanted to make the same comment I did about A Serbian Film.
I was supposed to be shocked, horrified, disgusted. I'm tired of these promises not delivering.
But ya, if anything, the turtle scene was a little rough.

It's worth a watch. Whether you find it disturbing or not I guess depends on you.

I'm trying to make people get it that this movie is intensely disgusting. When I saw it, I was no boy scout to horror movies, and it still fucked with me. There's this one cannibalism scene I'm thinking of that I can't un-see. So watch it at your discretion, because I don't think it's for the faint of heart.

@glomps and nibbles
Yes, real animals are killed on film which is one of the reasons why it was banned. After the film was released the director was arrested on obscenity charges. He was even accused of the movie being a snuff film due to the rumor that some scenes of natives being killed resulted in actual deaths. There are also some brutal rape scenes. So no, I would sit this one out.

Seriously? Fritz Lang's masterpiece "M" and Orson Welles' "The Trial" have no discussions, and Forman's epic "Amadeus" has 1 post entitled "First!" ...and you pick Cannibal Holocaust to bring this up? Lol
Personally I feel like any movie that tortures or kills animals for our entertainment deserves to be forgotten. But I do hope the imdb refugees eventually find this forum and bring back some good cinema discussions.

I didn't know it was banned. Tbh I can't remember much about it except that I was floored (I also saw it many years ago). It's crazy to think cinema was so artistic back then.

JR4752, I'm thinking stock footage of an animal being killed would stand out from the rest of the film and probably draw too much attention to itself. In other words, we'd figure out what it is right away. I'm not saying it's cool to kill live animals just for a film, of course.
Interesting theory. That impalement was really unforgettable. And yes, I remember how one of the men sort of ha-ha'd it when they got to the woman's body. So you're probably onto something.

Old thread I know, but I can't believe nobody even made a Logan Paul joke here!
