Discuss Sound of My Voice

IDK if it's coincidence or if me watching such movies makes Google and Amazon suggest more of them to me.

I like plots that don't explicitly explain everything to us and/or have ambiguity for us to interpret, but I don't like when they mess the ending.

During the movie there's no single proof she's from the future, then in the ending they have a little girl with a complex handshake? That's a shame. Why would somebody create a handshake to keep it secret and not use it with anybody? And how'd she create and memorize it without training with anybody? And how did the girl keep it in memory while never change or improve it for 30 years until she'd teach it to her daughter?

So, we have a small proof Maggie had a connection with the girl and she's indeed her daughter, and she managed to travel to the past taking no material or memory evidence of it?

I'd consider she had traveled without taking preparations, but then she said she doesn't remember the expelled guy with them in the future, implying that the group she's creating will eventually find her and stay with her. But if in her past she was with the group and they had knowledge of her future and that she's gonna travel to their past, then of course they'd deeply prepare her for it. And of course they'd warn her to not be arrested.

The sad part of the story is that it's built as a cult. She keeps making dumb events to force her followers to prove loyalty and faith in her. If she has no usable tool or memory, how will she save them from the disasters? And if she can, why not save more ppl instead of a few faithful? And why do those dumb cultist events instead of working to prepare for the disasters?

It's also dumb it's never explained what the police want with her, in case she was real. Are they rly police or some secret organization wanting to take possession of her?
